Hooray and thanks for your interest and patience. A trio of online cooking classes are now open for registration!
I've been teaching cooking classes and writing cookbooks for over 20 years. People who take my classes and buy my books are curious cooks. You have a diversity of culinary and health interests. You want to develop your Asian cooking chops. You're flexible and open minded. You're mostly home cooks but some are professionals.
These three classes kick off the online cooking class program:
- Sun., 8/18, 2-4pm PST: Imperial Roll Feast (aka Chả Giò House Party!)
- Sun., 9/15, 2-4pm PST: Viet Street Food + Dim Sum Made Easy (aka Bánh Cuốn + Cheung Fun Blowout!)
- Sun., 9/29, 2-4pm PST: Wontons and Siu Mai for All (spread dumpling joy!)
They welcome a broad range of cooks and eaters. Each class offers recipes for omnivores and vegans. All are dairy-free and two are gluten-free. For detailed class descriptions, click on the individual classes. Tickets are sold through Eventbrite so you'll be taken there.
General online class information
- Day and time: Sundays, 2-4pm PST, so you can make something for dinner or for the week ahead. It's also (hopefully) an unhurried time for you.
- Class length: 2 hours, including Q&A
- Online platform: Zoom, with playback recording for all registrants afterward, the recordings will be available for months for you to access
- Ingredients: Most ingredients are available at mainstream supermarkets. Asian market shopping is sometimes required. You will get pointers, such as brand suggestions, in class materials.
- Equipment: Basic home kitchen equipment. Nothing fancy or exotic is required. If there’s something special, it will be flagged in the class materials.
- Class materials: After registering, you’ll get a downloadable PDF of all recipes, Zoom link, plus pointers on shopping, equipment, and prep.
- Zoom class link: The day of class, you will get an email reminder with the link again.
- Cost: Each class is $40. Paid subscribers to Pass the Fish Sauce (my newsletter) receive a special registration discount. Occasional promotions are offered to free subscribers and others. To never miss a beat, get PTFS in your inbox.
- Refund-ability: Unfortunately, class registrations are not refundable. Student attendees receive the detailed class materials, livestream class, plus access to the recorded playback. If you cannot attend the scheduled livestream, you will have the materials and recording to watch. Whether or not you attend the livestream, you can email me follow-up questions.

I'm sorry, Marsha! Finding a day that works for everyone is so hard. I thought of a weekday afternoon and may try that in the future. Stay tuned via the newsletter. Thank you for your input.
